The 11th-ranked University of Massachusetts men’s lacrosse team fell, 11-5, to No. 19 Fairfield, on the road Tuesday.
Nick Mariano and Connor Mooney scored two goals apiece and Jeff Goerge added the fifth.
Mooney and Joe Calvello led the Minutemen (6-2) with nine ground balls each.
Eric Warden and Colin McLinden combined for six of the Stags’ goals.
UMass 16, Vermont 6 — Six players scored as the No. 8 Minutewomen (8-0) cruised on the road.
Sam Rush led with five, while Katie Ferris added four and four assists.
Melissa Carelli added three goals, while Erika Eipp added two. Ellie Bullitt and Rory Sadoff each had one.
Rachel Vallarelli made six saves in the win.
Amherst 9, William Smith 2 — Six second-half goals gave the Lord Jeffs some breathing room on the road in Clermont, Fla.
Rachel Passarelli scored four times and Alex Philie added three goals. Krista Zsitvay and Mia Haughton each had one goal in the win.
Allegheny 8, Amherst 4; Amherst 7, Fredonia State 1— The Lord Jeffs allowed six runs in the top of the seventh in the loss to Allegheny.
Alyssa Sherwill had a two-run double and Donna Leet went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and one RBI in the loss.
In Game 2, a four-run first and three-run third allowed the Lord Jeffs to split in Clermont, Fla.
Alena Marovitz went 3 for 4 with one run scored and one RBI. Idalia Friedson and Alyssa Sherwill each drove in two in the win.
Smith College 5, UMass-Boston 4 — Jinan Martiuk was the deciding match at No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win in Tampa, Fla.
Cal State Fullerton 5, Amherst 4 — The fourth-ranked Lord Jeffs (2-2) won three straight after trailing 4-1, but couldn’t complete the comeback on the road.
Amherst 6, Pomona-Pitzer 3; Amherst 6, Westmont 3 — The fourth-ranked Lord Jeffs (7-1) earned two wins over ranked teams in California.
Amherst beat the 16th-ranked Sagehens, then took down No. 5 Westmont.
